Leadership Through The Years
Founders - John and Zada Schlucher
In 1922, these graduates of Moody Bible Institute felt called to help the homeless, hungry, and hurting. When God brought them to Miami, Fl., all they had was a vision, lots of compassion, and a tent.
TRANSFORMERS - Rev. McKinley and Marguerite Ash
During the Ash’s leadership from 1947-1970, Rev. Ash preached at the Little Flagler mission. He also incorporated the Mission Miami Association and established the dba Miami Rescue Mission. His family raised funds to purchase the first mission owned property, with a building bearing a sign that read “When you don’t have a friend in the world, you’ll find one here.”
Refounders - Dr. Frank and Maxine Jacobs
In the early 70’s the mission faced financial difficulties. The Allapattah Baptist Church assumed its leadership until 1975, when Frank and Maxine Jacobs followed a call of God to step in. The Jacobs helped the mission transition through two eminent domains from the city and saved the Mission from financial deficit.
Vision Leadership - Rev. Ron and Marilyn Brummitt
Rev. Brummitt came to the mission as a resident and experienced the benefits of the program, which eventually led to his becoming the CEO(2004) and President(2007). He and his wife, Marilyn have grown the Mission to what it is today and have set the Vision of what is to come.

Thanksgiving on
Good Friday
On April 7th, we held our annual community street outreach. Over 250 volunteers blessed us with their time and talents to make this a successful day at our Miami and Broward centers.
We served over 2,000 men, women, and children in Miami-Dade and Broward county. We provided foot washing, food, entertainment and over 1,000 Easter baskets for at-risk children. This same day, more than 30 men, women, and children decided to enter one of our life-changing programs.
Special thank you to 610 WIOD AM for helping raise funds through a Radio Share-A-Thon. Also in attendance, City of Hialeah Mayor, Esteban Bovo, Jr. and US Congresswoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
We love our volunteers! Every day we rely on them to help us change lives. We wanted to show how much we care by hosting a special luncheon for our volunteers. All were invited and we had a great turn out! We even got our volunteers their own I Care shirt!

National Day of Prayer
We celebrated National Day of Prayer. An amazing Day – we started with our staff family praying together and then there was a powerful prayer time at our church property with our faith partners gathering. Over 50 people came together from different professions and even churches to pray! After prayer all gathered together to break bread and enjoy a nice meal.
Mothers and their children in our program gathered for a special Mother’s Day Fitness event, hosted by our CoverGirls Focus Group.
Our guests participated in fun fitness activities, like Zumba and Yoga, which were led by professional instructors. There was also music, food, smoothies, and giveaways!
Thank you to our sponsors for making this day possible!
Class of 2023
Graduation
Lives were celebrated as nearly 50 formerly homeless men and women graduated from The Caring Place at Miami Rescue Mission | Broward Outreach Centers.
The cap and gown ceremony marked a milestone in what has become a miraculous redemption for formerly homeless individuals who have worked successfully to change and transform their lives from homelessness and dependency to empowerment. Many now have jobs and safe and affordable housing and most of all restored relationships or new relationships that will lead them to future successes.
Following the graduates walking the stage, our President and CEO Rev. Ron Brummitt held a dedication prayer. He prayed over the graduates and every person at the graduation. After the ceremony, guests were invited to join us for refreshments and musical entertainment.
This is a milestone on the path to transformation!

The cafeterias were decorated with table decorations, balloons and birthday banners! Rev. John Ray was the special speaker for the Miami Center. In Broward, Pastor Elaine Bookal blessed the event with a special message.
Fathers in our Miami and Broward Centers had a special Father’s Day celebration. We had pizza, chicken wings, cake, and fun rounds of bingo to celebrate. They also received special Father’s Day gifts and a visit from a motivational speaker. All this is done to remind fathers they have important roles to fulfill for their children and families

Back to School
Drive-Thru
On August 5th, we hosted our Back to School Give Away event, where over 2,000 at-risk children were blessed for the new school year.
We are grateful for our volunteers and supporters who contributed to the success of this event. Pre-registered families received brand new backpacks filled with school supplies, brand new sneakers, socks and new T-Shirt. The families also received hygiene items and food boxes.
Our goal at The Caring Place was to add a little boost of confidence to the hundreds of at-risk children by giving them the much needed items to help them succeed in school. Wrapping up the event, our prayer warriors prayed over each car and family so they would be covered by God as they prepare to go back to school!

Give Miami Day is a 24 hours of giving event hosted by the Miami Foundation.
Our goal this year was to raise $75,000. Thanks to all our community partners and supporters we were able to surpass our goal and raise over $90,000 in donations. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to support our many focus groups, like the Home Run team, which provides mentorship for formerly homeless men who have graduated from our Regeneration Program. We also have our CoverGirls Volunteer Focus Group that helps women and children who are survivors of domestic violence, abuse, and homelessness.

Thanksgiving
Drive-Thru
We hosted our annual Thanksgiving Drive-Thru for over 500 at-risk families at our church property. Volunteers arrived early in the morning to begin sorting clothing, hygiene items, food boxes, and more in preparation for the event.
Over 500 turkeys were provided as well as pantry items. The Hunter Brady Foundation provided a special gift of beverages and as families reached the last tent, they were prayed over by Collab Church and Church In the Glades.
Thanksgiving Banquet
The Caring Place at Miami Rescue Mission | Broward Outreach Centers held a block party style banquet at both centers. We served hundreds of traditional turkey dinners with all the fixings this Thanksgiving to South Florida’s needy, hungry and homeless. Many took advantage of getting a shower, a health checkup and a haircut. They also received bags with clothing and hygiene items.
Guests received pop-corn, cotton candy, and snow cones while the main meal was being prepared. Festive music was playing from the main stage and a special Thanksgiving message was given at each campus to bless those hungry and hurting we served.
Intake tables were setup for guests to enroll into our Regeneration Program. Over 40 men and women decided to enroll and take a step forward towards a better future.
Thank you to the over 300 volunteers that were on site at Broward and Miami to help setup this event and to Potential Church that provided us with turkeys they collected through their Flip-Us-A-Bird event.
